The building was completely converted. The two commercial units on the ground floor were converted into a single unit. The wall separating the units was replaced by a steel frame construction.
A 110 qm living unit was created on both the first and second floor. Two steel beams were installed in the ceiling of the second floor, allowing the floor space of both flats to be allocated as desired. The living unit on the second floor received a terrace of 30 qm above the two existing garages.
For the most part, the front facade on Wilhelmstrasse remained as it had been. Larch sliding shutters were installed to provide shade to the windows and can be stowed between the windows when not in use. When closed, they form a reel which can be moved between and in front of the windows.
The addition of two more storeys for living space created a clearer outline at the back of the building, giving the formerly unappealing facade a more contemporary look.
